What to Bring

Camera (any, including smartphones!), all of your lenses, a tripod if you have one (available to borrow if needed), filters if you have them (ours are available to try), charged batteries and empty memory cards. Water, snacks, a lunch if on a full day photo tour, and weather appropriate clothing.

Start Time

The Icefields Parkway photo tours start time will depend on the selected photo tour. Sunrise+ and Full Day options start 1 hour before sunrise, The Sunset-to-Stars option starts 2.5 hours before sunset & the Night+ option starts 1.5 hours after sunset. These start times will change throughout the year. We will let you know the exact time upon booking.

Locations

The Icefields Parkway, Abraham Lake and surrounding areas. We will chase the best opportunities for spectacular photos depending on the localized weather, season, and light angles. Let us know if you have any specific locations in mind that you would like to photograph and we will take those into consideration.

These sessions will involve you learning as much as we can possibly fit into our time together. I’ll always be working with you and your camera gear so that you will walk away a better photographer, get bucket list shots, and be inspired for your future photography shoots as you will have taken another step forward technically and creatively.

We are winter accredited in both as well meaning that we are an excellent year round choice to lead you on your next photo adventure.

FAQs

Where do we meet for the Icefields Parkway & Abraham Lake Photo Tours?

We will meet at your hotel or place of accommodation at an appropriate time according to the type of session selected. We will be in touch to confirm these details once you have booked.

Is there somewhere to get lunch during the full day photo tour option?

Unfortunately not so make sure to bring snacks, water and a lunch with you on these photo tours. We may be able to stop at Saskatchewan River Crossing or Nordegg during the summer months to pick something up but it isn’t guaranteed so come prepared.

What happens in the case of poor weather?

The Icefields Parkway & Abraham Lake Photo Tours will go ahead regardless of weather conditions. Your photographs will look interesting in all types of weather at night and some of the most creative and unique photos come from the most improbable conditions! Bring weather appropriate clothing. Having said this in extreme cases we will try to accommodate a change of night if availability allows.

Can my spouse or family member join?

Yes, a non-photographer spouse or family member may join at no extra cost. If they will also be participating then there is a multi-person booking discount available which is $195 + GST for each additional participant. Add any additional discounted participants to your booking on the checkout page where an option exists to select the reduced rate.

What level of photographer is this for?

All! We enjoy taking out complete beginners and teaching them all about their equipment and nature photography just the same as if we have a more experienced photographer who prefers more location guiding, safety considerations & logistics than photo instruction.

Will I need to sign a waiver to participate?

Yes, we will bring it for you to sign when we meet on the day of the photo tour. A copy will be provided in advance for viewing.

What is the cancellation & refund policy?

There are no refunds, however we do consider requests on a case by case basis. See our terms & conditions.
