WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING
Some testimonials from past guests:
– “Nick is incredibly knowledgeable about both photography and the surroundings we’re shooting in, which helped me connect more with the landscape. I learned so much in just a few days. He works with you and the style you like to shoot in and gives you tips and composition ideas. He ensured everyone in the workshop was safe and comfortable as well. I hope to do another workshop with Nick again!” – Ti-An
– “Spending a few days with Nick in the Banff area were days well spent! We loved Nick’s patience and knowledge, never once making us feel inadequate, whether it was with our cameras or our physical ability to go places. His gentle reminders about technical use of our gear, and pointing out amazing compositions were all appreciated. Nick is not just knowledgeable about photography, but we also learned so much about the area, the geography and history. Within hours of meeting Nick, I felt safe, as if my own son was taking me on a vacation. I would not hesitate to book another tour with Nick and take my love of photography and the outdoors even further” – Sheryl

What is NOT included in the event?
* Accommodation – Everything is close enough so your choice of accommodation will not matter. Contact me for recommendations. We will have a central meeting place close to everyone’s accommodation.
* Transport – Car pooling may be available so please get in touch if you are interested in that, but be prepared to organize your own rental car should that possibility not be available.
* Travel, medical & equipment insurance. I highly recommend you purchase these before embarking on this trip, especially to cover yourself in case you have to isolate due to Covid 19 and will therefore not be able to participate. FAQs
Where do we meet for this on day 1?
A central designated meeting place in yellowknife at 2pm on the first day.
Where can I get food on this trip?
You will have the option of eating at restaurants in Yellowknife as a group for all dinners. Breakfasts and lunch should be taken prior to meeting each day as they fit into the times we will be resting and not exploring or photographing. Bring snacks and water with you for our time together.
What happens in the case of poor weather?
The Yellowknife Northern Lights photography workshops will go ahead regardless of the weather conditions. Your photographs will look interesting in all types of weather and some of the most creative and unique photos come from the most improbable conditions! Bring weather appropriate clothing. March temperatures range from -9 to -21C (15 to -6F) with it also being statistically the clearest month in the area. October in Yellowknife has temperatures ranging from -2 to 4C (28 – 39F). The lakes are still unfrozen in October so if lucky we can catch beautiful reflections of the aurora and any late fall colours left on the trees or the ground.
What level of photographer is this for?
All! We enjoy taking out complete beginners and teaching them all about their equipment and nature photography just the same as if we have a more experienced photographer who prefers more location guiding, safety considerations & logistics than photo instruction.
Will I need to sign a waiver to participate?
Yes, we will bring it for you to sign when we meet on the day of the photo tour. A copy will be provided in advance for viewing.
What is the cancellation & refund policy?
There are no refunds, however we do consider requests on a case by case basis. See our terms & conditions.
